Stylish, hard-wearing interiors for long-term tenancies

From a prime location to excellent facilities and amenity, our aim is to make Station205 the best possible place for our tenants to be. As we refurbish existing character factories – and build some brand new – we’re transforming the site into a modern industrial campus, featuring factory units and offices for a wide range of complementary businesses.

Working with designer Saul Hoeksema, the latest office fit-outs for Right2Drive and Men at Work are stylish, easy-care interiors featuring plywood, concrete-look fibre cement and neutral, harmonious colours.

Our brief was for hard-wearing surfaces, using colour and texture to create interest and ambience. ‘We used a mix of neutral-toned materials to create an industrial feel, but still with a sense of quality and warmth,’ says Saul. ‘Products such as PlyPlay, CanvasCoat and a concrete-look board – all made by Bates Surfaces – create a high-quality interior that can handle the bumps and knocks of a busy office headquarters.’

The main interior lining for the office spaces for Right2Drive is PlyPlay, which Saul has finished using colour and graphics. ‘The blonded ply has a subtle pink hue, so we used Antique White to complement it. The feature ceiling was done in CanvasCoat printed with an image of clouds and UV-coated, while the bathroom is lined with a 360-degree image of native New Zealand forest, also in CanvasCoat.’

The tenancy interior for traffic management company Men at Work has the same use of PlyPlay offset with Antique White, as well as the concrete-look panels for the staircase, a fibre cement product that is fire-rated to Group 1S, the highest classification.

‘The PlyPlay and concrete look are very complementary,’ says Saul. ‘The concrete feels industrial, and the timber face of the plywood gives a softening architectural element.’ He also created a dramatic city skyline in the main foyer using CanvasCoat, which provides Men at Work with a visual link to the city.

We chose the hard-wearing Bates panels not only to feature the products of our sister company, but also to allow tenants to feel comfortable in these spaces, knowing it’s hard to damage a UV-coated surface. They can enjoy their tenancy knowing there is less maintenance and therefore less disruption in Station205 office units.
