AHI Carrier’s amenities get a stylish transformation

Long-time tenants AHI Carrier are now enjoying completely refurbished executive bathrooms and an upgraded lunchroom as part of our ongoing commitment to improvement.

‘We were coming up for renewal of the lease,’ says Steve Setterfield, AHI’s facilities manager, ‘and we started a discussion about some refurbishment. The hallway outside the toilets was quite big, while the toilets were quite small, so it seemed that we could do something with them. Then Andrew suggested doing the kitchen at the same time.’

The new design by architect Dean Brown transforms and enlarges the thirty-year-old bathrooms, creating a stylish, modern facility that was achieved with minimum disruption to the tenants, thanks to the skill and experience of our regular contractors.

Says Steve, ‘I think it took maybe eight or nine weeks. There was a bit of noise occasionally, but we were pretty pleased with how it went, and now we have much improved facilities.’

Fit-for-purpose wall and floor surfaces

The first task was to push the foyer wall out by a metre to enlarge the bathroom space to make it light and airy, and easy to use. The new foyer walls are lined with PlyPlay™ by Bates Surfaces, featuring a smooth satin surface that is UV-cured and solvent-free. The plywood brings warmth and pattern to this interior space.

We installed sensor lighting and low water-use tapware for energy and water saving, as well as sensor fans on a timer in the bathrooms for better ventilation. Inraw™ panelling by James Hardie lines the washroom, while the WCs are finished in 300 x 600mm Hardie™ Glaze Lining, which has the look of a glazed ceramic tile.

‘One of the things I asked for was decent mirrors,’ laughs Steve. ‘The original ones were tiny – you couldn’t go into the bathroom to straighten your tie with them – and now we've got huge mirrors, which are heated and have LED lights around them. It’s much more appropriate for both staff and customers.’

Station205 has a bike storage shed, so for staff who cycle to work, we’ve installed a unisex shower lined with Seratone by Laminex. Flooring is a hygienic wood-look vinyl for easy cleaning.

For the AHI lunchroom, we replaced the kitchen cupboard fronts with PureCoat™ Milk and refitted the splashback with CanvasCoat in a Carrera Marble pattern. The high-gloss finish of PureCoat has brightened up the space dramatically.

‘Using Bates products was a no-brainer,’ notes Steve. ‘The kitchen has improved tremendously – it’s definitely much cleaner and tidier – and the bathrooms present so much better.’

Part of ongoing site enhancements

The AHI bathroom and lunchroom renovations are part of a work in progress that will extend through other tenancies over time, continually raising the standard of our interiors and their amenities.

The growth of Station205 as a premium industrial hub is based on a fundamental principle, which is to always respond to the needs of our tenants in a timely way. Providing attractive, highly functional spaces allows them to focus on their business while getting renovations completed efficiently means there is minimal disruption.

The project was overseen by our preferred construction team Central Residential Builders led by Cody Webby who did a great job, with plumbing by Progress Plumbing and electrical work by Reardon Electrical.
